# Keep track of what you promised

> My Tasks collects what you agreed to do in your meetings, with a link back to where you said it.

When you say "I'll send that over by Friday" in a meeting, Echo writes it down. My Tasks collects those commitments from all your meetings in one list, each linked to the meeting it came from.

![My Tasks with Sam's open commitments from Priya Raman's interview and the Implementation review, each linked to its meeting, a task on Maya Smith's record, and one done item from the Halden intake.](https://mintcdn.com/callecho/3msX5gJvFFZ4hlDx/images/meetings/my-tasks-v1.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=3msX5gJvFFZ4hlDx\&q=85\&s=65c7467412ea6e84c8247ab088c3acf5)

## What counts as a task

Echo only records commitments someone actually made, such as "I'll send the migration plan" or "We'll confirm the start date next week". It doesn't invent tasks from what it thinks should happen next, and it keeps the wording that was said rather than adding deadlines.

What you agreed to do goes to My Tasks. What the other person agreed to do shows on their contact record and in your next brief with them. See [Contacts](https://docs.callecho.ai/memory/contacts.md).

## Work the list

Open **My Tasks** in the sidebar. Hover a task to see its actions. For each task you can:

* Select the checkbox to **Mark done**. Done tasks move down the list, and you can reopen them.
* Select the pencil (**Edit task**) to change the wording.
* Select the mail icon to start an email in your email app with the task, the meeting it came from and what was said.
* Dismiss a task that isn't really yours or no longer matters.
* Select the source link to open the meeting where it came up.

Home also shows up to five of your open tasks. Select **View all** to open the full list, or switch the strip off with **Show My Tasks on Home** in **Settings › Account & workspace**.

## Tasks that close themselves

After a later meeting, Echo checks whether you clearly said you'd done something on your list, such as "I sent the migration plan this morning". When the transcript makes that plain, Echo marks the task done, and the sentence that closed it shows on the contact's done commitments. You can reopen the task if Echo got it wrong. A new promise or "I'll do it soon" never closes a task.

## Add your own

Select **+** at the top of My Tasks, enter your task and an optional due date, then select **Create task**. You don't need to link it to a meeting or contact.

From a contact's record, select **Create task** to add a task related to that person, with an optional due date. It appears in My Tasks with the others, showing its due date.

You can also ask Echo Agent to create, edit or complete a task, with a preview for approval. Desktop 0.1.87 supports the confirmations and automatically refreshes the affected views. See [Change your Echo records](https://docs.callecho.ai/agent/what-you-can-ask.md#change-your-echo-records).
