# Format a CV and draft the client email

> Use CV Out to turn a candidate's CV and a job description into a formatted Word CV and a client email, together, with anything missing flagged.

CV Out makes the two drafts you review before sending a candidate to a client: the candidate's CV in a Word format and the email that introduces them. You give it the CV, the job description and the candidate's name. A Saved Session is optional.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Create CV Out** appears in a new Echo Agent conversation when your track is Recruiting. If you still don't see it, update Echo to the latest version.

## Before your first CV Out

You need:

* Recruiting as your Work type.
* The candidate's CV.
* The job description.
* The candidate's name as it should appear.
* Optionally, a Saved Session with the candidate.

CV Out uses two separate formats: **Your CV format** for the Word CV and **Your email format** for the client email. Without your own CV template, Echo uses Skillflo Talent's standard CV, which carries the Skillflo Talent name and logo and your email address. See [Set up recruiting](https://docs.callecho.ai/tracks/recruiting/set-up.md).

## Create a CV Out

1. Open **Echo Agent**, start a new conversation and select **Create CV Out**.
2. Under **Candidate CV**, select **Upload CV or resume** and choose the CV (PDF, Word or text).
3. Under **Job description**, paste the job description, or select **Attach file** to read it from a PDF, Word or text file.
4. Under **Candidate name**, enter the name as it should appear on the CV.
5. If you recorded a meeting with the candidate, such as their interview, choose it under **Saved Session**. Meetings with a candidate name found in the CV come first, under **Suggested from the CV**. Echo doesn't choose one for you.
6. Select **Create CV Out**.

Choose the candidate's meeting when you have one. Echo uses what they said in it, such as their motivation, package and notice period, in the email. If **Candidate name** is still empty, choosing a meeting that names the candidate fills it in. Once you choose the meeting, files attached to it appear under **Candidate CV**, so you can use the CV from the meeting instead of uploading one.

If you select **Replace** or **Remove** on the CV, Echo also clears **Saved Session** and any name it filled in from that meeting. Choose the meeting again afterwards.

While Echo works, the button reads **Creating…** and the line under it says what's happening: first drafting the CV and the client email, then formatting the Word CV. If it fails, your inputs stay in the form, so you can select **Create CV Out** again.

## Review the result

When it's done, the CV Out opens in an Echo Agent conversation with the CV Out panel beside it. The panel shows the candidate's name, the target role and the date, then the Word CV and the client email.

![Priya Raman's CV Out conversation beside the CV Out panel, which shows the target role and date, the Word CV with Download Word, the client email with Copy email and Copy subject, and 1 detail to review.](https://mintcdn.com/callecho/T2RZSJ0h6yeHC-LS/images/tracks/recruiting/cv-out-result-v2.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=T2RZSJ0h6yeHC-LS\&q=85\&s=b5c510ecdae61921ddb1c4117d8d2d0c)

* Select **Download Word** to save the Word CV. Echo fills your CV format from what you provided and leaves out the candidate's contact details.
* Select **Copy subject** to copy the email subject.
* Select **Copy email** to copy the body of the client email, then paste it into your email. CV Out doesn't send anything.
* Open the list under the email, for example "1 detail to review", to see what Echo couldn't find or found conflicting, such as expected salary or notice period. The list also holds the sources Echo used and the job description. Echo flags missing details there instead of inventing them in the email, and copying the email leaves them out. When nothing is missing, the list is called **Sources**.

In a narrow window, Echo shows the panel or the conversation, not both. Select **Conversation** to switch to the conversation. If the panel isn't showing, select **Open CV Out** under the composer.

If the Word file couldn't be made, the panel shows **Word CV not created** with the reason, and the client email is still there. Select **Retry** to make the Word file again from the saved CV content. If the CV template it used has since been removed, select **New CV Out** to start again with your current format.

Success is a reviewed draft and a downloaded Word document. Sending and custom formatting are separate actions.

## Come back to it

**Recent CV Outs**, under the Create CV Out form, lists your latest ones. Each opens in its Echo Agent conversation, titled with the candidate's name, with the CV Out panel beside it.

Ask for changes in that conversation, such as "Make the email shorter". Echo answers there with the revised text. The saved Word file and the email in the panel stay as they are, so copy a revised email from the conversation.

## Other ways to do it

You can also ask Echo Agent directly, which is handy for a quick one-off or for a candidate without a meeting:

* **Format a CV**: attach the CV and ask "Format the attached CV for a client." Echo asks for the exact name to show at the top, including how to capitalize the surname, and uses your saved CV template, or Skillflo Talent's standard CV if you haven't added one.
* **Draft a submission email**: attach the job description and CV and ask "Draft a submission email to the client for Priya Raman." Add your client notes or interview notes if you have them. If Echo spots a hard blocker, such as a missing must-have or a salary well above the client's range, it asks whether to flag it in the email, leave it out or hold the submission. Unknown details are marked **\[To confirm]**. Tell Echo your firm's name, or it uses Skillflo Talent's in the subject and sign-off.

Drafted through Echo Agent, the email has a subject line, a short greeting, three or four strengths chosen for what the client cares about, then the reason for leaving, motivation, current and expected salary, and notice period.
